Home is Where the Heart Lies
What’s the definition of a “cool girl”? Ideally the definition of a cool girl become someone who can avoid or handle her emotions well. However, the reality is that handling, and avoiding emotions is not only overrated in today’s world, but also seem pretty synonymous to me.
I have a similar issue with a very close family member. Someone who is sugar sweet to the world outside, but crude and disrespectful towards people in her home. She seems to be the “cool person” that everyone admires. And this makes me wonder is it socially “woke” to always be sweet and kind? It’s pretty much inhumane.
So usually the person who is socially always amiable and acceptable, and “cool”; would be finding solace somewhere. Most people would guess at home. At the end of the day; as per great indian standards, one is rejuvenating usually with family; one’s Home. But again, isn’t that putting unnecessary pressure on your family members? And the home environment? Expecting your loved ones to live up to an ideal pedestal, is something that can be super stressful for people around you.
So the main question arises, what is Home? And Who creates Home for you? Who creates a Home for self?
Your heart of course!
Home is exactly where your heart lies.
Tis home where e’er the heart is,
Where e’er its loved ones dwell,
In cities, or in cottages,
Throng’d haunts or mossy dell,
The heart’s a rover ever,
And thus on wave and wild,
The maiden with her lover walks,
The mother with her child.
And then it becomes super important to protect one’s own heart. And One’s own space. Especially for “being cool” and “always amicable” in a world that is a bit hard to thrive in; feeling the warmth and fire within. As long as your heart feels good, life feels fantastic.
The popular concept of “avoiding” emotions can only mean that you are neglecting what your heart says; and hence the lack of feeling of a “home” starts to percolate. And then the search for self begins.
